Union Gap and Ellensburg offices

Roofing services across Central Washington

For more than 25 years Columbia Plateau has put new roofs, re-roofs and repairs on homes, barns, churches and businesses in Yakima and Kittitas counties. Three jobs make up most of the work, so they come first. Everything else the crew does is listed below them.

Roof replacement

A full replacement runs one to three days on most homes, depending on how big and complicated the roof is. The crew strips the old roof, checks the decking underneath, and installs the new system with Gust Guard fastening, which uses 50% more fasteners than the industry standard.

Catch-All netting protects your siding, windows and landscaping, and a tool called the Equiptor lifts old roofing off without tearing up the yard. A project manager stays on the job, and the crew cleans up every day.

Leaks, wind and storm damage

Roof repair

Leaks, blown-off shingles, failed flashing and storm damage get fixed so the roof is sound again, not patched for the next wind. Custom flashing comes out of their own small fabrication shop, so valleys and chimneys fit the roof they sit on.

A repair is often all a roof needs. If the inspection says it is past that point, you hear it straight, with the reasons.

Drone, attic and a same-day quote

Free roof inspection

Every job starts the same way: the roof gets measured, a drone takes detailed photos, and someone goes into the attic to look at ventilation, insulation, leaks and mold. The inspection is free.

You get photos of what was found and a written proposal with the project steps, the pricing and the terms. If wind or hail hit your roof, the photo record also helps with an insurance claim.

Fastened for the Windy City

Ellensburg wind pulls shingles off roofs, and most manufacturer wind warranties stop at 15 years. Gust Guard is Columbia Plateau's own answer: Sure Grip fasteners, 50% more than the industry standard, and a lifetime warranty against blow-offs for as long as you own and live in the home. On metal roofs, Glacier Guard holds back sliding snow and ice. See how shingles go on.

Questions homeowners ask first

Straight answers from the office. The full list is on the roofing FAQ page.

Missing shingles, leaks, sagging, or a lot of granules in your gutters usually mean the roof is near the end. If you are not sure, the crew will come out, inspect it and tell you honestly whether a repair will do.

For Central Washington weather, metal, slate and tile are all strong choices. They are durable, handle rain and snow, and help with energy bills. The crew installs all three, so the choice can follow your house and budget.

It depends on the material and the size of your home. On average a roof runs from $7,000 to $25,000. After the inspection you get a detailed written estimate with no surprises.

It depends on the material. Metal roofs can last 40 to 70 years or longer, and asphalt shingles usually last 20 to 30 years. Call the office if you want a closer read on your own roof.

Most replacements take one to three days, depending on how big and complex the roof is. You will know the schedule when you get the estimate.

Sometimes. It depends on the condition of the existing roof and local building codes. The inspection tells us which option is right for your house.
